Missionaries reserve a special place in their hearts for the "Mission
Cross." It has the power of a sacred symbol, representing
a oneness with Christ. We glorify that oneness by working to build
God's kingdom on earth, a task in which we are joined and encouraged
by the generosity of those who support us both prayerfully and financially.
The Mission Cross reminds us that we share in the suffering and triumph
of Christ. The cross transforms us into Christ's likeness. The empty
cross is a reminder that we are to place ourselves on the cross in
union with Christ. Whatever sufferings or difficulties we experience
in our missionary life, when joined with those of Christ, become life-giving
for those we serve in His name.
