This summer more than 78 children from Most Holy Trinity Parish in DeLisle, Mississippi, experienced the love of Christ when they participated in our mission’s first annual religious education summer camp.
Each day, a different theme or story from the Bible was presented. In the morning, boys and girls from kindergarten through fifth grade learned about the Last Supper, the two greatest Commandments and Biblical plagues. Each lesson was followed by an afternoon of arts and crafts where they drew pictures depicting the Last Supper, made cutouts of frogs and lambs, as well as created rainbow refrigerator magnets.
Missionary Servant Father Dave Hamm hosted “question and answer” sessions about Jesus Christ and the Ten Commandments with 19 teenage boys. Middle school-aged girls were treated to lessons and discussions on self-esteem and how to discover God in their everyday lives.
The four-day event, organized by 25 volunteers, concluded with a family picnic…another parish first!
This is just one example of how, with your help, we are striving to be the face Christ in the lives of both young and old alike. After all, Jesus loves them, too!
